STENLI YARN · OUR STORY
Stenli Yarn: The Family Story Behind Every Ball
I’m Stanislav Andonov. My parents founded Statex when I was still a baby. Today, I help carry that family story forward, with production in Plovdiv, a team of around 45 people and yarns that reach more than 30 countries.
When you choose a yarn, its colour often catches your eye first. Then you check the fibre content, feel the texture and imagine what you could make with it.
I’d like to share another part of that story: where the yarn comes from, the people behind it and what this work means to our family.
It started with my parents
My parents founded Statex when I was very young. The business has been part of my life from the beginning. As I grew up, the company grew and developed too.
Today, I’m closely involved in managing and developing the business. That means everyday decisions about products and production, as well as working with customers and partners. It also brings a personal responsibility: to build on what my parents started and contribute ideas of my own.
How Statex, Stenli and Pleta fit together
You may know our yarns as Stenli and shop with us through Pleta. These names represent different parts of the same business:
Statex — our family company and the manufacturer behind the brand.
Stenli — the brand under which we create our own yarns.
Pleta.bg — our shop, offering Stenli alongside yarns and accessories from other manufacturers.
pro.pleta.bg — our wholesale portal for retailers and yarn shops.
We work with people choosing a few balls for their next project, as well as shops preparing their collections for the season ahead.
Making yarn in Plovdiv, Bulgaria
In Plovdiv, our ideas become yarns with their own fibre blends, weights, textures and colours.
Different projects call for different qualities. Softness matters particularly in a garment worn next to the skin. A chunky winter project needs a different feel. With multicoloured yarn cakes, the way the shades come together becomes part of the finished design.
Our collection reflects that variety, from merino yarns and cotton and other plant-fibre blends to colourful cakes and decorative yarns.
Each involves choices about materials, work with the machinery and a series of production stages. The factory photographs show part of that journey, before the yarn receives its label and reaches a shop.
Around 45 people behind the daily work
Our family business also includes the people we work alongside.
Today, our team has around 45 members. Production, preparing stock, handling orders and helping customers are all connected. Getting a ball of yarn into your hands takes the combined work of many people.
That is an important part of the business for me. Our decisions affect people we know and work with: our colleagues, our partners and the customers who place their trust in us.
From Plovdiv to more than 30 countries
Stenli yarns now reach customers in more than 30 countries.
Behind that number are individual shops, different tastes and countless possible projects. The same yarn might become a scarf, a cardigan, a baby blanket or something we haven’t imagined ourselves.
Our work continues here in Plovdiv. Once the yarn reaches your hands, your part of the story begins.
Thank you for choosing Stenli and supporting our family’s yarn production.
