"HOLIDAY LIGHTS" HAT

GENERAL INFORMATION:
This is a festive looking two-faced beanie type hat. Оne of the sides is featuring false cables, resembling holiday trees shining with flickering holiday lights thanks to the wonderful new additional to Stenli Yarns palette – Amore, a yarn with a shiny braided core. Turn in around and you will see a voluminous snow swirls patterning all around.
The design is intended for two sizes S/M and L and features written instructions.
The hat will be complemented by the Holiday Lights Scarf.
The pattern is suitable for adventurous beginners.
SIZE:
S/M - to fit head 56-58 cm
L – to fit head 59-61 cm
MATERIALS:
Yarn (both sizes):
Stenli yarns Amore, color 104 (red) 50 gr ;
Needles:
Circular or double pointed needles size US 7 (4.5 mm); and
Circular or double pointed needles size US 9 (5.5 mm) or size necessary to achieve gauge.
Other:
1 stitch markers, darning needle, scissors.
GAUGE:
Gauge (in stockinette stitch): 18 stitches x 25 rows for 10 cm x 10 cm

INSTRUCTIONS:
Using needles size US 7 (4.5 mm) and long-tail cast on method cats on 84 (91) stitches. Join in the round, mark beginning of the round by placing a stitch marker and work rib as follows: *k1, p1*, repeat sts between ** until end of the round. Continue until rib measures approx. 4 (5) cm in height.
Change to needles size US 9 (5.5 mm) and work as follows:
Round 1: *K11, p3 (2); repeat 6 (7) times from *.
Round 2 – 5: repeat Round 1.
Round 6: *K1, p1, k7, p1, k1, p3 (2); repeat 6 (7) times from *.
Round 7 – 11: repeat Round 1.
Round 12: *k5, with the right needle pick up the first purl stich 5 rows below entering the needles from above, sl1, with the right needle pick up the second purl stich 5 rows below entering the needles from above, return all 3 sts to the left needle and work CDD, k5, p3 (2); repeat 6 (7) times from *.
Repeat Round 1 to Round 12 3 times in height.
Now work the crown as follows:
Rounds 1 - 2: *K11, p3 (2); repeat 6 (7) times from *.
Round 3: *K11, p1 (2), p2tog x 1 (0); repeat 6 (7) times from *. 78 (91) sts
Round 4: *K11, p2; repeat 6 (7) times from *.
Round 5: *K2, ssk, k3, k2tog, k2, p2; repeat 6 (7) times from *. 66 (77) sts
Round 6: *K1, p1, k5, p1, k1, p2; repeat 6 (7) times from *.
Rounds 7 - 8: *K9, p2; repeat 6 (7) times from *.
Round 9: *K2, ssk, k1, k2tog, k2, p2; repeat 6 (7) times from *. 54 (63) sts
Round 10: *K7, p2; repeat 6 (7) times from *.

Round 12: * k3, with the right needle pick up the first purl stich 5 rows below entering the needles from above, sl1, with the right needle pick up the second purl stich 5 rows below entering the needles from above, return all 3 sts to the left needle and work CDD, k3, p1; repeat 6 (7) times from *.
Round 13: *K7, p1; repeat 6 (7) times from *.
Size L ONLY
Repeat Round 13 one more time.
